Solid wood, chosen, not settled for.
Solid hardwood is slow-grown, with a deep golden-brown colour and a tight, expressive grain. It is naturally oil-rich, dimensionally stable, and built to endure, which is why it's been used for fine furniture for generations.
We choose solid wood because it behaves. It moves predictably with seasons, takes oil beautifully, and develops a patina that deepens rather than fades. A solid wood chair looks better in year ten than it did on day one.
Four steps. No shortcuts.
Selecting the timber
Each board is hand-picked for grain and stability. We work with stock that has been air-dried first, then kiln-finished, not the other way around.
Cutting & joinery
Frames are cut to size, mortised and tenoned. Brass fittings are countersunk by hand. Nothing is glue-and-pray; every joint is built to be the strongest part of the chair.
Leatherwork
Full-grain leather is cut, edged and stitched in-house. Sling seats are tensioned so they hold their shape under daily use, year after year.
Finish & quality
Each piece is hand-sanded through the grits and finished with a penetrating oil that lets the wood breathe. The chair leaves when it's ready, not when it's due.
Leather, brass and time.
- Leather, full-grain hides finished in cognac, dark tan or black. Stitched to last, not styled to sell.
- Hardware: Precision-engineered joints and heavy-duty fasteners hold every piece together with the kind of grip that outlasts the wood itself. No fillers, no shortcuts, no apologies.
- Finish, penetrating natural oil. No lacquer, no plastic film, just oil and time.
